The National Parliament has passed 14 of the 133 ordinances issued by the interim government as bills on Tuesday, the 10th day of the first session of the 13th parliament, while two more were tabled for conversion into law.
During the morning session, eight bills were passed, including the Haor and Wetland Conservation Bill, Code of Criminal Procedure (Amendment) Bill, Civil Courts (Amendment) Bill, International Crimes (Tribunals) (Amendment) Bill, Registration (Amendment) Bill, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (Amendment) Bill, Sheikh Hasina Medical University (Amendment) Bill, and the Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Medical University, Sylhet (Amendment) Bill.
The Smoking and Use of Tobacco Products (Control) (Amendment) Bill was tabled and is expected to be passed later with amendments.
In the afternoon session, six bills were passed: Specification (Supplementary) Act, 2026, Specification Act, 2026, Electricity and Energy Rapid Supply Increase (Special Provisions) (Repeal) Act, 2026, Bangabandhu Poverty Alleviation and Rural Development Academy (Amendment) Act, 2026, ‘Sheikh Rasel Rural Development Academy, Rangpur (Amendment) Act, 2026, and the Commercial Court Act, 2026.
Additionally, the National Freedom Fighter Council (Amendment) Act, 2026 was tabled.
Ministers and state ministers from the relevant ministries tabled the bills, which are now expected to undergo further scrutiny before final passage.
