Pakistan were all out for 114 in the first ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz won the toss and chose to bowl first. He said dew could play a role later in the match.
Pakistan played with four debutants. The top three included Sahibzada Farhan, Maaz Sadaqat and Shamyl Hussain. Pakistan started well. The openers added 41 runs for the first wicket. But the momentum soon changed.
Fast bowler Nahid Rana broke the stand. He removed Farhan for 27 as the batter could not handle the bounce. Rana struck again soon after. Another debutant, Shamyl Hussain, fell to his pace and bounce.
The pacer kept attacking with speed and lift. Pakistan’s batters struggled to control it. Rana removed two more wickets in similar fashion. At the end of the 18th over, he dismissed Salman Ali Agha. That wicket gave him his maiden ODI five-wicket haul.
Rana reached the milestone in just five overs. Pakistan were 69 for 5 at that stage. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also played an important role with the ball. He bowled wicket to wicket and kept the pressure on. Miraz finished his ten overs with three wickets for just 28 runs.
Faheem Ashraf tried to fight back for Pakistan. He attacked on the on side and kept the scoreboard moving. He scored 37 runs from 47 balls and stood as the lone fighter for his side.
But the resistance ended when Mustafizur Rahman removed him. Pakistan were eventually bowled out for 114, leaving Bangladesh in a strong position in the first ODI.
