A total of 10,96,937 voters cast their ballots via the “Postal Vote BD” mobile application in the 13th parliamentary election and referendum.

Salim Ahmad Khan, team leader of the Out of Country Voting System Development & Implementation (OCV-SDI) project on expatriate voter registration, confirmed the matter. Authorities have dispatched 15,28,086 ballots by BD Post as of Wednesday.

Out of this, 10,96,937 people cast their votes and 4,31,149 voters did not participate. 5,15,646 were expatriates, while 5,81,291 voters cast their votes from within the country under the In-Country Postal Voting (ICPV) system.

So far, 5,07,363 ballots from expatriates have arrived in the country and 5,61,893 ballots within the country submitted to post offices or designated mailboxes. Returning officers (ROs) have received 4,44,452 expatriate ballots and 4,40,194 domestic ballots.

Data from the Postal Vote BD further showed that 8,83,766 ballots were returned by voters following the proper procedure, while 883 ballots were returned without the QR codes being scanned.

Postal ballots will only be included in the count if they reach the authorities by 4:30pm on election day.

Salim Ahmad Khan also said a combined total of 15,33,684 voters, both at home and abroad, have registered on the application to vote.
