The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested ninety-eight individuals in raids across various areas of the capital in the last 24 hours, as part of its Operation Devil Hunt, Phase 2.
Police said the arrests were made during operations in various crime-prone areas by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, Mirpur, Jatrabari, Darus Salam and Rupnagar police stations.
The detainees were held on allegations of involvement in different criminal activities.
Police said Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station made the highest number of arrests, detaining fifty people, while Mirpur Model Police Station arrested eleven, Jatrabari Police Station arrested twelve, Darus Salam Police Station arrested fourteen and Rupnagar Police Station arrested eleven.
According to Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station sources, police carried out day-long operations on Friday and arrested fifty people in connection with regular cases, warrant cases and other criminal activities.
The detainees from Sher-e-Bangla Nagar include Md Delwar Hossain, Md Shahjahan, Md Zahid Hasan Hridoy, Shariful Islam Niloy, Apurbo Islam, Bulbul Ahmed, Md Shahed Bhuiya, Md Manna Hossain, Dipak Hajra, Yasin Arafat Arnob, Syed Ahmed Shuvo, Md Ashraf Uddin, Md Shahjalal, Md Shaheen, Md Naim, Imtiaz Ahmed Hridoy, Md Ramzan, Saidur Rahman, Md Sabbir Hossain, Md Moin Hossain Rajon, Md Torikul Islam Rifat, Md Hanif Mia, Md Rifat Hossain, Md Torikul Islam, Md Shahdat Hossain Rabbi, Md Anik Hossain, Md Sazzad Hossain, Md Shipon, Md Sohanul Haque, Md Tarek Aziz, Md Sabbir Hossain Bijoy, S M Matiur Rahman, Md Hariz, Md Ejaz Hossain Siam, Md Unayes Imran, Md Monir Akter, Md Rajon Sheikh, Md Abu Sadik Rakib, Md Mojibur Rahman, Md Salah Uddin Byapari, Md Shaheen, Md Aminul Islam Naim, Md Mamun Byapari, Md Abdullah Sabuj, Md Rakibul Hasan Rakib, Md Joj Mia, Md Aktaruzzaman, Md Alamin Islam, Md Russell and Md Nurul Islam.
Mirpur Model Police Station sources said police conducted operations in different crime-prone areas on Friday and arrested eleven people, recovering five hundred grams of cannabis and two mobile phones from their possession.
Those detained include Md Habib, Md Nur Alam Munshi, Md Parvez Ahmed, Md Akter Hossain, Md Sayeed, Md Dulal, Tasnim Ahmed, Almas Haque, Md Ibrahim, Md Russell and Md Ali Hossain.
Jatrabari Police Station sources said police arrested twelve people during operations on Friday in various crime-prone areas, recovering three knives and two mobile phones.
The detainees include Touhid, Md Jewel, Md Palash, Md Arif Hossain, Md Sohel, Md Sohan, Md Rony, Md Alamgir Hossain, Md Jane Alam Hossain alias Ashik, Rony Islam Barshan, Bappi and Hossain Md Mohsin.
Darus Salam Police Station sources said police arrested fourteen people after conducting operations in crime-prone areas under the station.
Those detained include Md Ikram, Md Shah Alam, Md Raju Sheikh, Md Khokon Mia, Md Robin, Md Roman, Md Jasim, Md Ibrahim Khalil, Md Sajal, Sri Ajay Ghosh, Md Nazmul, Md Munna, Md Sabuj Mia and Md Hridoy.
Rupnagar Police Station sources said police carried out operations on Saturday, the 3 January, and arrested eleven people involved in various crimes, including accused in regular cases.
One mobile phone was recovered during the operation. The detainees include Md Rabbi Hasan, Md Fazle Rabbi, Md Jihad, Md Russell, Md Akbar, Md Shakil, Md Rubel, Md Rubel Matbar, Md Shanto, Md Siam and Md Rahad.
Police said all the arrested persons have been produced before the court.
