Under the Operation Devil Hunt phase 2, police arrested 67 people throughout Rangpur Division within the last 24 hours. All of them are leaders and activists of Awami League, its associate and affiliated organisations.
Rangpur Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police Majid Ali said a sweeping operation was carried out across various upazilas of the division’s eight districts from Wednesday to Thursday.
During the operation, one person was arrested in Rangpur, ten in Kurigram, eleven in Lalmonirhat, seven in Nilphamari, twelve in Gaibandha, fifteen in Dinajpur, seven in Thakurgaon, and four in Panchagarh.
DIG said the arrestees are accused in multiple cases filed over murders and attempted murders during July Uprising, as well as under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
