One person has died of suspected measles in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning, while over 900 new suspected cases were reported during the same period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The death was recorded in Sunamganj district under Sylhet division, the DGHS Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room said in its latest bulletin.
During the same 24-hour period, a total of 951 suspected measles cases were reported across the country, while 167 cases were confirmed through laboratory testing.
Within that period, 882 patients were admitted to hospitals and 908 patients were discharged after recovery.
DGHS data shows that from 15 March to 1 July this year, a total of 102,028 suspected measles cases have been reported nationwide.
Of them, 12,132 cases were confirmed through laboratory and clinical diagnosis.
During the same period, 93 deaths were confirmed as measles-related, while another 626 deaths were recorded as suspected cases.
Division-wise data indicates the highest number of suspected cases in Dhaka division, including the capital, where 46,634 suspected cases have been reported so far. Of them, 8,122 were confirmed.
Dhaka division also recorded the highest number of deaths, with 269 suspected and 57 confirmed measles-related fatalities.
Chattogram division ranks second with 17,702 suspected cases and 1,185 confirmed cases.
Barishal and Rajshahi divisions reported 10,231 and 8,025 suspected cases respectively, according to DGHS figures.
