One person died from dengue in the last 24 hours, while 163 new patients were admitted to various government and private hospitals across the country.
The deceased was a woman aged between 61 and 65 from an area outside the City Corporation in Mymensingh division.
According to the regular dengue bulletin released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday, the new admissions include 100 men (61.7 per cent) and 62 women (38.3 per cent).
During the same period, 161 patients were discharged from hospitals following recovery.
A division-wise breakdown of the last 24 hours shows that the highest number of patients, 46, were admitted in Barishal division.
This was followed by 27 in Chattogram division, 24 in Khulna division, 23 in Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation), 17 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 14 in Mymensingh division, eight in Dhaka North City Corporation, and four in Rajshahi division.
From 1 January to 1 July this year, the total number of dengue cases in the country has reached 6,267. Of these, 3,898 are men (62.2 per cent) and 2,367 are women (37.8 per cent).
The total death toll for this period stands at 19, comprising 10 men (52.6 per cent) and nine women (47.4 per cent).
So far, 5,793 patients have been discharged after treatment, while 455 dengue patients currently remain under treatment in various hospitals across the country.
Regional statistics reveal that Barishal division recorded the highest number of infections at 1,675, with one death.
Meanwhile, Mymensingh division reported the highest number of fatalities with five deaths out of 186 cases.
Other figures include 888 cases and four deaths in Dhaka South City Corporation; 1,167 cases and three deaths in Chattogram division; 540 cases and three deaths in Dhaka North City Corporation; 772 cases and one death in Dhaka division (outside the City Corporation); 725 cases and one death in Khulna division; and 222 cases and one death in Rajshahi division.
Although Sylhet and Rangpur divisions recorded 60 and 32 cases respectively, no deaths have been reported there to date.
Monthly data indicates that 1,081 people were infected and two died in January, followed by 409 infections and two deaths in February.
While infections were relatively lower in March and April, the numbers rose to 714 cases and one death in May.
The prevalence of dengue surged significantly in June, with 2,907 hospitalisations and 13 deaths recorded in the recently concluded month.
