One killed in Chuadanga truck crash

In Alamdanga, a head-on collision between a sand-laden truck and another truck known as ‘Alamsadhu’ left one passenger dead.

The accident occurred on Tuesday morning in Madhabitola village of Alamdanga upazila from in Chuadanga.

The deceased was identified as Mohammad Ali. He was the son of Shamsul Haque Faraji of Baganmathpara village in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah district.

The driver of the ‘Alamsadhu’ truck, Zahurul Haque, sustained injuries in the accident. He also hails from the same village.

Police said the fish-laden ‘Alamsadhu’ truck was travelling towards Alamdanga from Moheshpur in Jhenaidah. When it reached the Madhabitola area, a speeding sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction hit it head-on.

Mohammad Ali died on the spot due to the impact, police said.

Sub-inspector Jahangir Alam, in-charge of the Alamdanga Munshiganj police outpost, said rescuers sent the injured driver to a hospital for treatment.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital morgue for post-mortem examination.
