The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Md Arman Hossain Dipu alias Shooter Arman, chief of “Arman Bahini” and one of Khulna’s most wanted criminals, along with firearms and ammunition.
The arrest was made Sunday in Boalmari Police Station area of Faridpur, Deputy Commander Major Md Nazmul Islam of RAB‑6 said at a press conference in Khulna on Monday.
Based on information provided by Arman, law enforcers recovered a foreign‑made pistol, two shotguns and 12 rounds of ammunition.
Nazmul said Arman, accused in multiple murder cases, had gone into hiding in Boalmari with his family after recent intensive operations. His location was tracked using advanced technology, leading to his arrest Sunday afternoon.
During initial interrogation, Arman confessed to direct involvement in an attempted murder on 17 June, when he entered a mosque in Daulatpur and shot at two worshippers.
According to RAB, Arman had formed a gang of eight to ten members to establish dominance, extort money and carry out violence in Daulatpur, Khalishpur, Arongghata and nearby areas.
The group allegedly targeted local businessmen, demanding extortion money through WhatsApp calls from foreign numbers and threatening to shoot them if they refused.
Police records show Arman is accused in several murder and attempted murder cases, including the killings of Mamun Molla, Marjan Munna, Kala Rana, Ghaura Rajib, Jubo Dal leader Rasu and Monirul Islam Roni.
The operation was conducted jointly by RAB‑6, the Detective Branch of Khulna Metropolitan Police, Khulna Metropolitan Police and District Police. Efforts are continuing to identify and arrest the remaining members of “Arman Bahini.”
