The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 476 people and registered 39 cases during regular anti-crime operations across various police station areas in the capital over the past 24 hours.

According to an official statement issued by the DMP, the highest number of arrests was recorded in the Mirpur Division, where 122 people were taken into custody.

A further 70 people were arrested in Tejgaon, 69 in Motijheel, 62 in Wari, 48 each in Gulshan and Uttara, 29 in Lalbagh, 27 in Ramna and one by the Detective Branch (DB).

During the operations, police seized 36.29kg of cannabis, 92 bottles of phensedyl, 143 yaba tablets and 10 grams of heroin.

Law enforcement personnel also recovered a foreign-made pistol, two rounds of ammunition, one magazine, seven mobile phones, a yaba-using pipe, two pieces of foil paper, three gas lighters, 200 elastic belts and Tk8,400 in cash.

Legal proceedings against the arrested individuals are currently underway.
