US rapper Offset returned to the stage at Coachella just days after being shot outside a casino in Florida, performing largely in a wheelchair before briefly standing during his set.
The 34-year-old former Migos member, real name Kiari Kendrell Cephus, was hospitalised after the April 6 incident outside Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood. He later shared images and videos from his Coachella appearance on Instagram, captioned ‘REAL LOVE’.
His mother, Latabia Woodward, described him as a “miracle walking”, while police have said two people were detained in connection with the shooting.
Offset thanked supporters ahead of his performance, saying he was focused on recovery and family, and reflecting on “quiet wins and loud losses” in an Instagram post.
The rapper’s return came during a high-profile Coachella weekend that also featured Justin Bieber’s comeback to live performance after a four-year break due to health issues. Bieber’s set drew mixed reactions, with fans divided over its nostalgic format.
Elsewhere at the festival, Sabrina Carpenter headlined with a theatrical Hollywood-style show, while girl group KATSEYE made their Coachella debut without member Manon, who is currently on hiatus.
Colombian singer Karol G closed the weekend as the first Latina headliner, using her set to highlight representation and cultural pride.
