Startup Bangladesh Limited, the only government-owned venture capital company under the ICT Division, has appointed Nurul Hai as its new Managing Director.
With over 16 years of experience in venture capital, impact funds, asset management, and banking across Asia, East Africa, and the Caribbean, Hai is set to bring a global perspective and strategic vision to Bangladesh’s growing startup ecosystem.
Prior to his appointment, Hai served as Vice President at the Small Enterprise Assistance Fund (SEAF) in Washington D.C., where he successfully led investments and sustainable growth strategies for startups across emerging markets. His leadership focused on portfolio strategies and helping startups scale in challenging environments.
In his new role, Hai is committed to accelerating innovation, creating youth employment opportunities, and fostering a more inclusive and globally competitive startup ecosystem in Bangladesh.
Speaking about his vision, he said, “True transformation happens when speed meets responsibility. We aim to build a robust pipeline where founders scale with clarity and transparency, while investors achieve timely and profitable exits.”
Under his leadership, Startup Bangladesh is expected to adopt a more structured, dynamic approach, strengthening partnerships and opening new doors for Bangladeshi startups on the international stage.
