National University (NU) hosted an exchange meeting on Wednesday with a delegation from the Commonwealth Universities Association (CUA) to discuss collaboration on enhancing higher education quality and institutional capacity, the university said in a press release.
The meeting took place at 1pm on 10 June 2026 at the National University city office in Dhanmondi. The CUA delegation was led by Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer Professor Colin Riordan and included South Asia’s Engagement Lead Ms Ekita Pokharna.
Representing National University were Vice‑Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah, Pro‑Vice‑Chancellor Professor Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al Hossain, Communications Expert Gautam Barua and Acting Director of the International Desk Raj Bin Kashem.
Both sides discussed potential areas of cooperation to strengthen the quality of higher education and institutional capacity. Focus areas included skill‑based teacher training and professional development, technical assistance, capacity‑building programmes and other academic support initiatives through which CUA could assist National University.
Vice‑Chancellor Professor ASM Amanullah outlined the university’s commitment to improving educational standards and stressed the importance of international partnerships in advancing educational excellence and innovation. The CUA delegation expressed its interest in working closely with National University and explored future collaboration opportunities under CUA’s various programmes and initiatives.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation to benefit National University’s students and faculty. They emphasised academic development, capacity building for teachers and staff and strengthening international engagement, the statement added.
