Netflix is revisiting a beloved romantic comedy, with a new take on ‘13 Going on 30’ now in development. The reimagined film will star Emily Bader and Logan Lerman, with Brett Haley attached as director. Original star Jennifer Garner has joined the project as an executive producer, signalling a link to the much-loved 2004 film.

Story details remain under wraps, though the reboot is expected to reinterpret the coming-of-age fantasy that made the original a lasting favourite.

The film’s plot follows a teenage girl who mysteriously wakes up in her adult body, navigating life, love and identity with a mix of humour and heart.

The screenplay has been written by Hannah Marks, with revisions by Flora Greeson. Producers include Joe Roth and Jeff Kirschenbaum.

The original film, directed by Gary Winick, became a cultural touchstone after its release, earning strong box office returns and enduring popularity through home viewing and streaming.
