National Citizen Party (NCP) Jhalakathi convener Mainul Islam Manna has resigned from his post.
He confirmed the decision in a Facebook post around 10pm Sunday, though a formal resignation letter had already been sent to the NCP Central Committee convener on 23 May.
“This decision is entirely personal. I have not taken this decision under any pressure from anyone. If anyone has been hurt by my behaviour or words during my tenure as convener, please forgive me,” Manna wrote.
In his letter, he cited “personal and family problems” as the reason for stepping down, adding, “I wish to voluntarily resign from the responsibility of Jhalakathi district convener. I have always respected the party’s ideology and activities and wish the party well in the future.”
