National Citizen Party (NCP) has withdrawn the show-cause notice and temporary suspension order previously issued against its Joint Member Secretary Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, after an investigation cleared him of corruption allegations.
The decision was confirmed in an official statement dated 16 April 2026, signed by Sadia Farzana Dina, a member of the NCP Office Cell.
The document states that following a comprehensive inquiry and review by relevant authorities into claims regarding corruption and “commission trade,” no specific evidence was found to support the charges against Tanvir.
Consequently, the party has retracted its previous disciplinary orders in the interest of justice and institutional transparency, directing Tanvir to resume his regular organisational duties.
Tanvir had been temporarily relieved of all responsibilities following allegations of misconduct reported in a national daily on 11 March.
Those allegations claimed he had illegally interfered in the appointment of a deputy commissioner and engaged in illicit commissions related to paper procurement for textbooks printed by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
At the time of the suspension, NCP Convener Md Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain, acting for the Central Disciplinary Committee, had served Tanvir a show-cause notice.
He was given seven days to provide a written explanation as to why he should not be expelled from the party.
A previous statement by Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat noted that the temporary relief of duties was also due to Tanvir allegedly ignoring prior verbal warnings regarding organisational discipline.
With the investigation now concluded and the allegations unproven, the NCP leadership has called for Tanvir’s full cooperation in further streamlining the party’s activities and enhancing its public reputation.
