New Zealand went 1-0 up in the series with a win over Bangladesh.
Bangladesh chased 247 but made a poor start. Tanzid Hasan Tamim got out early. Najmul Hossain Shanto also fell soon after. The score was 21 for 2. Saif Hassan and Litton Das then tried to repair the damage. They added 93 runs for the third wicket.
Saif made 57 from 76 balls. Litton scored 46 from 68 balls. Both got out after set starts. Towhid Hridoy and Afif Hossain added some runs but could not push the chase. Afif scored 27 from 49 balls. Mehidy Hasan Miraz failed to get going.
Bangladesh lost their sixth wicket at 194. After that, the match slipped away. Hridoy scored 55 but the team could not finish the job.
Earlier, New Zealand chose to bat first after winning the toss in Mirpur. Nick Kelly fell early to Shoriful Islam. Then Henry Nicholls and Will Young built a steady stand. They added 73 runs for the second wicket.
Young made 30 from 42 balls before Rishad Hossain got him out. New Zealand stayed in control after 25 overs. But Miraz removed captain Tom Latham. Soon after, Rishad dismissed Nicholls.
Dean Foxcroft held the innings together at the end. He scored a fifty but the run rate stayed low. New Zealand finished on 247 for 8 in 50 overs. Shoriful Islam and Rishad Hossain took two wickets each. Taskin Ahmed also took two.
