Prime Minister’s Political Adviser and BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Friday accused NCP leaders of spreading hatred, saying such behaviour resembled the politics of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
“Spreading hatred is not part of democracy. People reject those who engage in slander,” Rizvi said.
He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at an event marking Nazrul Year at the Natore District Council Hall.
Rizvi also criticised Jamaat-e-Islami, saying the party’s claim that it could not come to power for refusing to bow to “dominant forces” was contradictory.
He said that before the election, Jamaat had indicated that it wanted to improve relations with those same forces if it came to power.
“People do not like those who speak in two different ways. Jamaat was never a party capable of coming to power,” Rizvi said.
Speaking at the event, Chief Whip Ruhul Quddus Talukdar Dulu said BNP does not believe in politics of revenge and is working to build a better Bangladesh by involving everyone.
Warning NCP leaders, Dulu said a return of “fascism” due to retaliatory politics would put everyone at risk.
The event was organised by the Natore district administration. Natore Deputy Commissioner Asma Shaheen, Additional Superintendent of Police Iftikhar Alam, BNP district convener Rahim Newaz, member secretary Asaduzzaman Asad and other leaders attended the programme.
