Peshawar Zalmi became the first team to secure a place in the Pakistan Super League final after defeating Islamabad United, powered by a century from Babar Azam. The franchise is set to have a boost for the May 3 final, with Nahid Rana cleared to feature.
On Wednesday, The Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially granted Nahid Rana permission to rejoin his franchise for the PSL final scheduled on May 3.
In an official statement, the BCB said, “Upon review, the BCB has decided to grant Nahid Rana permission to rejoin his franchise for the final of the tournament scheduled to be held on 3 May.
This decision has been made considering the significance of participating in the final of a major global franchise competition, which is viewed as an important step in the continued development of the player. More importantly, the team management and BCB medical team has provided clearance, confirming that his participation in the match will not adversely affect his fitness, workload management or availability for national duty.
Nahid Rana remains on track to be available for selection for the first Test against Pakistan, set to commence in Dhaka on 8 May.”
Zalmi chairman Javed Afridi had earlier contacted BCB president Tamim Iqbal regarding the pacer’s availability, and also thanked him on social media for the approval.
Nahid was in outstanding form in the recent ODI series against New Zealand, where he was named player of the series after taking eight wickets in three matches. He has also previously featured for Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL, claiming seven wickets in four matches.
Following the New Zealand ODIs, Nahid was rested and was not included in the T20I series against the same opposition.
