Nagad, one of Bangladesh’s leading mobile financial service providers, on Tuesday disbursed Tk13.82 crore to the Bangladesh Post Office as its share of revenue generated from January 2024 to June 2025.

The cheque was handed over at Dak Bhaban in Agargaon by Nagad Chief Financial Officer Afzal Ahmed to Kazi Asadul Islam, director general of the Department of Posts, according to a press release.

The event was also attended by SM Haroonur Rashid, additional director general of the Department of Posts, Bangladesh Bank-appointed Associate Administrator Md Nahim Uddin, Nagad’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Md Samsul Islam, and senior officials from both organisations.

Under the revenue-sharing agreement, Nagad bears all operational and technological investments for the service, while the Department of Posts does not make any financial contribution but receives 51 percent of revenue, leaving 49 percent to Nagad.

Since its inception, Nagad has become a trusted digital financial platform, handling an average daily transaction volume of approximately Tk15,000 crore.

The service has also played a key role in disbursing government funds under programs like the Family Card initiative, primary and secondary education stipends, the Prime Minister’s Education Assistance Trust grants, and various social safety net allowances, ensuring transparency and efficiency.

Looking ahead, Nagad is expected to facilitate fund distribution under additional government programmes, including the Farmer Card initiative, allowances for imams and muezzins, and other government subsidies and grants.
