The Ministry of Education has announced a 180-day priority programme, outlining key initiatives including free education for children of July uprising martyrs and the distribution of tablets to teachers, as part of efforts to implement the ruling party’s election manifesto.

The 180-day programme includes the “One Teacher, One Tab” initiative, the introduction of multimedia classrooms, compulsory third language education, and technical education for all. The “One Child, One Tree” programme will also be implemented.
The minister said free school dresses and shoes will be distributed to all primary students across the country, with over two lakh students per upazila to receive them within the next 180 days.
Teacher training will be expedited, with provisions for multiple shifts if necessary, including teachers over 50 years of age in nationalized schools.
In a significant directive, the minister ordered free education up to university level for children of those martyred in the July mass uprising and the anti-fascist movement, as well as for injured and disabled “July student fighters.”
Other initiatives include student loan facilities for higher education abroad, the introduction of Math Olympiads at the upazila level, and mandatory debate competitions with debate clubs in every educational institution. Provisions for honoring Hafez-e-Quran were also highlighted.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Secondary and Higher Education Division, Technical and Madrasa Education Division, and Primary and Mass Education Division.
Milon emphasized that these programs are aimed at public welfare and fulfilling the dreams of the people, which he identified as the goal of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
