Nagad, the mobile financial service of Bangladesh Post Office, and Rupali Bank PLC have signed an agreement in Dhaka on 30 June 2026 to facilitate faster and more convenient delivery of inward remittances to beneficiaries across Bangladesh, the organisations said in a press release.
The agreement was signed at Rupali Bank’s head office in Dilkusha, Dhaka, by Bangladesh Bank-appointed Administrator of Nagad Md Motasem Billah and Managing Director of Rupali Bank Kazi Md Wahidul Islam, marking a new collaboration to strengthen formal remittance channels.
Under the arrangement, expatriate Bangladeshis will be able to send remittances to Rupali Bank through international exchange houses, money transfer operators (MTOs) or banks, after which Nagad will disburse funds directly into beneficiaries’ mobile wallets, enabling 24/7 access from anywhere in the country.
Nagad said the initiative is aimed at boosting remittance inflows through formal channels and encouraging digital financial inclusion, alongside various promotional efforts for expatriate families. The company recently launched a campaign titled “Har Na Mana Har”, offering gold necklaces to families of expatriates receiving remittances via Nagad.
Nagad Associate Administrator Anwar Ullah, Chief Commercial Officer Mohammed Shahin Sarwar Bhuiyan and Head of Remittance Md Ahsanul Hoque Bashar attended the signing ceremony, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Rupali Bank was represented by Deputy Managing Directors Tahmina Akhter, Hasan Tanvir and Md Harunur Rashid, General Managers Mohammed Shahedur Rahman, Mohammed Shajahan Choudhury, Md Ismail Hossain Sheikh, Md Moin Uddin Masud and Salamun Nessa, and Head of Remittance Division AKM Zakir Hossain, among others.
Speaking at the event, Nagad Administrator Md Motasem Billah said every remittance sent by expatriates is vital for the national economy, adding that the partnership would allow beneficiaries to receive funds quickly, safely and without hassle. He said Nagad’s network would also enable easy spending or low-cost cash withdrawals, supporting financial inclusion.
Rupali Bank Managing Director Kazi Md Wahidul Islam said the agreement would help deliver expatriates’ earnings safely and swiftly, including to remote areas, and strengthen formal remittance flows while improving customer service.
Nagad also highlighted its “Bangla QR” payment system and National Payment Switch Bangladesh (NPSB) integration, noting that users can now make cashless payments at around 1 million Bangla QR merchant points and transfer funds instantly between bank and MFS accounts for everyday transactions such as utilities, education fees and shopping.
