As India and Bangladesh prepare to face off in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup, renowned cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has shared his thoughts on the match-up, highlighting key players and strategic elements for both sides. Speaking on Cricbuzz, Bhogle provided detailed insights into Bangladesh’s squad, with particular praise for Mustafizur Rahman and Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

“Mustafizur is a player to watch for me,” Bhogle said. “If the pitch is good, he can be a real factor. He has started bowling well again after a dip in form, and that will be crucial for Bangladesh.”

He also expressed his admiration for Tanzim Hasan Sakib, although with some disappointment over his omission from the playing XI. “They’re not picking the bowler I really like, Tanzim Sakib. He’s a good bowler. They’ve left him out because they’ve gone back to Taskin and others. They’ve picked Shoriful, who offers some swing.”

Bhogle believes the bowling attack will be vital if Bangladesh are to challenge India, particularly in the early overs where pressure needs to be applied.

Turning to the batting, Bhogle addressed Bangladesh’s frequent changes at the top of the order. Bangladesh often changes their openers. In the last match, Saif Hassan scored runs. I read somewhere that no BPL team picked him, yet he made a comeback and did well. Saif and Tanzid might open the innings.”

He added, “Emon probably won’t play unless there’s some doubt about Litton’s availability. And in the middle order, Hridoy has done well at number four; that’s a big win for them. Now they’ll want him to convert that promise into performance in a big match.”

On the Indian side, Bhogle pointed to Suryakumar Yadav as a key figure. “In the Indian team, Suryakumar is my player to watch. He can change the course of a match in any situation.”

As anticipation builds for the encounter, Bhogle summed up Bangladesh’s path to success: a strong start from the openers, a composed innings from Hridoy, and effective spells from Mustafizur and Taskin.
