Bangladesh batter Mushfiqur Rahim suffered an injury scare during the team’s practice session in Mackay on Thursday ahead of the second Test against Australia.
Mushfiqur was batting in the nets when he faced Taskin Ahmed. A good length ball from the pacer bounced more than expected and struck Mushfiqur on the hand.
He felt some pain after the blow and received treatment soon after.
The incident caused some concern with the second Test only two days away. However, Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons later confirmed that the injury was not serious.
Mushfiqur is expected to remain in contention for the second Test, which starts in Mackay on Saturday.
The experienced batter is an important part of Bangladesh’s middle order. His availability will be important as the visitors look to finish the series strongly.
Bangladesh will enter the match with a 1-0 lead after their historic nine wicket victory in Darwin.
The win was Bangladesh’s first Test victory on Australian soil.
Bangladesh will now look to secure the series in Mackay, while Australia will aim to bounce back and level the two match contest.
