Morocco came from behind twice before beating Haiti 4-2 to finish second in Group C and book their place in the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Thursday.
Haiti gave Morocco a real test and matched them for much of the first half. The Caribbean side took the lead twice, but Morocco fought back each time to go into the break level.
The game changed after halftime as Morocco’s substitutes made the difference. Soufiane Rahimi put his side ahead for the first time in the 80th minute with a fine finish. Gessime Yassine then wrapped up the win with a late goal after a long VAR check confirmed the ball had stayed in play.
Achraf Hakimi was one of Morocco’s best players. He scored once, set up another goal and caused problems throughout the match. Goalkeeper Yassine Bounou also made a superb late save to stop Haiti from pulling one back.
Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland meant Morocco finished second in Group C. They now move on to the round of 32.
Haiti leave the tournament without a point, but they won praise for their brave display. They pushed Morocco all the way and ended their World Cup campaign with another strong performance.
