Indian singer and actress Monali Thakur has opened up about trust, difficult times and her decision to focus on the positive side of life.
Monali, who won the National Film Award for the song Moh Moh Ke Dhaage, has several hit songs to her credit.
Last year, rumours emerged about problems in her marriage after an emotional social media post appeared to hint at mental and physical abuse. Monali did not discuss her relationship further but continued to move forward by leaving the negativity behind.
Speaking about her outlook, Monali said she now finds it difficult to trust people and feels more comfortable trusting animals.
“I cannot trust people anymore. Compared with them, I find it much easier to trust animals. During my difficult times, I received so much love from animals and nature. Perhaps that love gave me the strength to cope and survive,” she said.
Monali also expressed her dissatisfaction with reality shows, saying she feels they repeatedly follow the same pattern.
“The same thing has been happening again and again for many years. There is nothing new. That is why I do not like reality shows at all now,” she said.
Alongside music, Monali has also launched her own clothing brand. Her Thakurain collection has already gained popularity on social media. Her love for sarees inspired the venture.
“Indian culture is extremely rich. Many talented artistes create beautiful designs on sarees. I wanted to take those creations to the world,” Monali said.
She added that she started the business out of passion rather than as her main source of income.
“I started this business because of my hobby and love. It is not my main source of income. I have travelled to different places abroad and seen how much people value Indian products. Unfortunately, we do not give them the same value in our own country,” she said.
Monali has repeatedly made headlines over difficulties in her personal relationships. However, she said she prefers to leave the negativity behind and focus on living well.
