Miss Venezuela 2025 Andrea del Valle was allegedly physically assaulted inside a hotel room during the Cannes Film Festival on 19 May, with the beauty queen accusing her celebrity stylist Giovanni Laguna of carrying out the attack.

According to reports carried by Venezuelan and Mexican media and later published by the New York Post, the incident took place at a hotel in Cannes during the ongoing film festival.

Del Valle, 29, later shared a video on social media in which she appeared visibly distressed, with blood seen running down her face. In the footage, she directly addressed her stylist, saying, “Look, this is exactly what Giovanni Laguna did. Congratulations Giovanni, this is what I wanted, for everyone to see who you really are.”

The video also showed the hotel room in disarray, with furniture and belongings scattered across the floor. Laguna, a 33-year-old Venezuelan stylist, was reportedly seen sitting in a chair in one corner of the room during the recording.

Reports stated that other hotel guests heard shouting and sounds of a struggle coming from the room before contacting police. Footage later shared by Spanish journalist Jordi Martin allegedly showed French police officers escorting Laguna out of the hotel in custody.

Laguna is known within Latin America’s celebrity and beauty pageant industry and has served as the creative director of Miss Universe Colombia since 2023.

The reports also noted that he has professional ties with Miss Universe Mexico 2025 winner Fatima Bosche, although there has been no suggestion of her involvement in the incident.

Following the altercation, Del Valle was taken to hospital for treatment and is now reportedly out of danger.

French authorities have yet to confirm what formal charges, if any, may be brought against Laguna. Police have also not commented publicly on what triggered the reported dispute between the two.
