The nomination paper of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir for the Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) constituency has been officially declared valid by the Election Commission.

The announcement was made Saturday morning after the district returning officer, Ishrat Farzana, completed the verification and scrutiny of his nomination papers.

Alongside him, Delawar Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami and Khademul Islam of Bangladesh Islami Andolan also had their nominations validated for the Thakurgaon-1 (Sadar) seat.

Mirza Fakhrul submitted his papers on 29 December last year, accompanied by party leaders and activists, at the returning officer’s office.

Earlier, on 3 November, as BNP secretary general, he unveiled the party’s candidate list for the 13th National Parliamentary Election at the party chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Dhaka, which included his nomination for Thakurgaon-1.
