Mirza Abbas, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, has undergone brain surgery at Evercare Hospital in the capital. The surgery was successfully completed on Friday afternoon.
Dr Rafiqul Islam, the BNP’s Health Affairs Secretary, confirmed the matter to media, stating that a medical board comprising specialist doctors made the decision to proceed with the surgery after reviewing the leader’s condition.
According to Dr Islam, a CT scan was conducted on Mirza Abbas on Friday morning. As the report showed a deterioration in his condition, a virtual medical board was immediately convened to review the situation.
Following this review, the board decided on the operation, and the consent of his family members was obtained.
The medical board included several of the country’s most prominent neuro-specialists, such as Prof Ali Uz Zaman Joardar, Prof Kazi Deen Mohammad, Prof Shahabuddin Talukdar, Prof Raziul Haque, Prof Sayeed Ahmed, Prof Quader Sheikh, and Prof Shafiqul Islam, alongside other doctors from Evercare Hospital.
Dr Islam further noted that the family of Mirza Abbas has requested the nation to pray for his speedy recovery.
