Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon has called on teachers to focus on students’ moral and humanistic development alongside academic instruction.
Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion and exchange meeting titled Quality of Education and Development on Saturday, Milon said, “If teachers care for every student as they do for their own children, no student would fail their examinations.” The event was organised by former students of Khajuria Laxmipur Pir Sobhania High School in Kachua Upazila, Chandpur.
Milon highlighted the significant investment the government makes in each student and the sacrifices parents make for their children’s education. He said that a student failing the SSC examination is a tragedy not only for the family but for the nation as a whole.
Addressing the teachers, he added, “Providing academic lessons alone is not enough. Special attention must be given to developing students’ focus, morality, and human values.” He stressed that teachers have the power to shape a generation of well-educated and responsible citizens.
The meeting was presided over by Shah Alam, Chairman of the School Management Committee and former Headmaster. Md Mahbub Alam, Deputy Secretary of the Bangladesh ICT Division, addressed the session as a special guest, while Senior Assistant Teacher Zahirul Haque moderated the proceedings.
Other speakers included Headmaster Akhtar Hossain, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Monjur Ahmed Selim, and Acting Chairman of Gohat Dakshin Union Parishad and Freedom Fighter Shafiqur Rahman. The event was attended by a large number of invited guests, teachers, and parents.
