‘Michael Jackson: The Verdict’, the much-talked-about Netflix documentary, topped the platform’s global television charts during the week of 1-7 June after attracting 17.8 million views within five days of its premiere, according to viewing figures released by the streaming service.
The three-part docuseries, which debuted on June 3, revisits the 2005 trial of pop star Michael Jackson. The series features interviews with people who were present during the court proceedings, including jurors, eyewitnesses, accusers and defenders. Jackson was acquitted of all charges in the case, including child molestation.
The documentary arrived just months after the release of the musical biopic ‘Michael’, which stars Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson as the singer and has the endorsement of the Jackson estate.
