Amid ongoing controversy over a Sylhet schoolteacher’s viral reel video, veteran singer Mezbah Rahman, lead vocalist of the band Different Touch, has defended the teacher, saying the clip contains nothing objectionable and should not result in disciplinary action.
Speaking to the media, Rahman said the iconic monsoon song Shraboner Meghgulo Joro Holo Akashe, released in 1990, has remained popular for decades and is now being used by many as a form of expression on social media.
He argued that the teacher’s reel featured nothing inappropriate and questioned why some people viewed it negatively.
The controversy began after Fenchuganj schoolteacher Beauty Pal posted a reel using the song.
Several teachers later created similar videos in solidarity.
Meanwhile, local education authorities have informed higher officials and initiated steps to form an investigation committee.
