Meghan Markle could be preparing for a full-time return to acting nearly a decade after she last appeared as Rachel Zane in Suits.

According to Deadline, the actor is in preliminary discussions for a potential role in Guy Ritchie’s Netflix series The Gentlemen.

According to the report, Markle has been offered a role in an upcoming UK-based project and has held early discussions about joining The Gentlemen for a possible third season.

However, the potential casting remains far from confirmed.

The series, starring Theo James, has not yet been officially renewed for a third season, and no details about a possible role for Markle have been revealed.

The timing of the report has also drawn attention, coming shortly after Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, announced plans to return to the UK for an extended period.

The couple have been based in California since stepping back from their roles as senior working royals and relocating to the US in 2020.

The second season of The Gentlemen is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on 3 September.

The series is a spin-off of Ritchie’s 2019 film of the same name.

Markle began her acting career in the 2000s with smaller roles in television series including CSI: NY and films such as Horrible Bosses.

Her breakthrough came with Suits, where she played paralegal-turned-lawyer Rachel Zane.

She joined the show in 2011 and eventually became one of its leading cast members.

Markle left the series ahead of her 2018 marriage to Prince Harry and subsequently stepped away from acting.

Following their move to California, the couple signed a deal with Netflix and appeared in the documentary series Harry & Meghan.

Markle also starred in and hosted With Love, Meghan and launched the Archetypes podcast.

She has since made a guest appearance on MasterChef Australia.

In 2025, Markle made an acting comeback with a cameo in the Amazon MGM Studios film Close Personal Friends, although a full-time return to the profession had not been confirmed.

The Gentlemen is based on Ritchie’s 2019 film and follows aristocrat Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James, who inherits his family estate and discovers that it is connected to a vast cannabis empire.

The series was created by Ritchie, who also serves as a writer alongside Matthew Read. Ritchie and Eran Creevy direct the series.

The second season continues Eddie and Susie Glass’s criminal exploits as they become involved in a larger international operation.

If the series receives a third-season renewal and Markle’s reported discussions progress, The Gentlemen could mark the actor’s first substantial television role since Suits.
