India’s Border Security Force (BSF) attempted to push six people into Bangladesh through the Rangmahal border in Gangni upazila of Meherpur.
However, the attempt was thwarted by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB). The BSF took the six people back around 8:30am after the BGB contacted its officials.
Naib Subedar Bilal Hossain, commander of the Rangmahal BGB camp, said several people were seen attempting to enter Bangladeshi territory near border pillar No. 137 early in the morning.

The BGB’s patrol team stopped them with the assistance of local villagers. They were not allowed to enter Bangladesh under any circumstances, he said.
After the BGB contacted the BSF over the matter, the group, comprising four women and two men, was taken back.
The BGB remains on alert along the border to prevent any untoward incidents.
