YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, who was detained in Gurugram ahead of a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest, was released by Gurugram Police in the early hours of Sunday.

Police detained Rathee from his residence in Sector 56 of Gurugram on Saturday ahead of the planned protest at Jantar Mantar, reports Indian Express.

He was among more than 6,000 people, including Opposition leaders, activists and social media creators, detained as authorities moved to prevent a protest in central Delhi demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

According to PTI, three Crime Branch teams detained Rathee at around 6 am. Police took him to a Crime Branch office, where they questioned him for about an hour.
