The number of deaths from suspected and confirmed measles cases across the country has risen above 150, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
From 15 March to 8 April, a total of 159 fatalities were reported, including 138 suspected cases and 21 confirmed cases through laboratory testing.
In the past 24 hours (8am 7 April to 8am 8 April), 10 patients with measles-like symptoms died, although no new laboratory-confirmed deaths were recorded.
During the same period, 189 additional cases were confirmed positive for measles, bringing the total confirmed cases since 15 March to 1,599.
The DGHS also reported 1,248 new suspected cases nationwide in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative suspected case count to 11,133.
Dhaka division continues to report the highest number of patients, with 4,667 suspected cases and 10 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
Overall, 7,577 suspected measles patients have been hospitalised across the country since 15 March.
Among confirmed cases, Dhaka division leads with 991 patients, followed by Rajshahi division with 256 confirmed cases.
So far, 5,241 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals. The DGHS said its integrated control centre is actively monitoring the situation, collecting and analysing data continuously.
Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and seek immediate medical care for suspected measles cases.
