Actor, television host and fashion designer Mandira Bedi became emotional as she remembered her late husband, filmmaker Raj Kaushal, during the trailer launch of her upcoming film Max, Min and Meowzaki. She revealed that therapy helped her survive one of the most difficult periods of her life following Raj’s death in 2021.
According to the Hindustan Times, Mandira said therapy has remained an important part of her life for nearly two decades. Recalling one of her earliest sessions, she shared that when she told her mother she had gone to therapy around 20 years ago, she was asked why she needed it. Mandira replied that she wanted a safe space to express what was on her mind, something she could not do even with her mother.
The actress said she has always turned to professional counselling whenever she felt emotionally overwhelmed or sensed that something in her life was out of balance. She explained that seeking help from therapists and counsellors had consistently benefited her.
Mandira said therapy became especially important after Raj Kaushal died. She described it as a source of healing that helped her cope with grief and gradually rebuild her life.
Mandira and Raj Kaushal married on 14 February 1999 and spent more than two decades together. They are parents to son Veer and adopted daughter Tara in 2020. Raj died of a heart attack in June 2021 at the age of 50. During his career, he directed films including Shaadi Ka Laddu and Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi.
Mandira will next appear in Max, Min and Meowzaki, written and directed by Narasimha Murthy. The film also stars Medha Shankar, Siddharth Menon, Adil Hussain and Nafisa Ali.
The trailer follows Max and Min, a young couple whose relationship unravels during one of the toughest phases of Max’s life. As he struggles to move on from the heartbreak, he unexpectedly finds comfort in a pet cat named Meowzaki. Sharing the trailer on Instagram, the makers described it as “a rollicking tale of modern love, chaos, and those we come home to”. The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on 24 July 2026.
