Lyricist, journalist and author Al Mahmud Manjur, widely known by his pen name Mahmud Manjur, has received the Best Lyricist award at the Global Star Awards 2025 (Season 3).
He earned the honour for writing the title track of the popular television drama series Eta Amaderi Golpo (This Is Our Story).
The award ceremony took place on 25 July at Dhaka Regency Hotel & Resort, where legendary singer Ferdous Ara presented him with the award medal and commemorative crest.
Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan attended the event as the chief guest. Former minister and MP Dipen Dewan inaugurated the ceremony, while Syed Margub Morshed, chief adviser of Global Star Communication, presided over it.
This year’s Global Star Awards also honoured renowned actor Khairul Alam Sabuj and legendary folk singer Kangalini Sufia with Lifetime Achievement Awards. The event further recognised distinguished individuals and representatives from various organisations for their outstanding contributions to culture, media, business, entrepreneurship, social service and other professional fields.
Expressing his gratitude after receiving the award, Al Mahmud Manjur said, “This recognition is a great source of inspiration for me. The greatest achievement is that the song Eta Amaderi Golpo has found a place in people’s hearts. I dedicate this honour to the director, composer, singer and the entire team behind the song. I will continue working with sincerity to enrich Bangla music in the years to come.”
Al Mahmud Manjur has been actively involved in cultural journalism and lyric writing for many years. He has written numerous songs and has played a significant role in Bangladesh’s entertainment journalism for more than two decades. His latest recognition is widely regarded as a notable milestone in the contemporary Bangla music industry.
