A shotgun looted from Araihazar Police Station during the July uprising was recovered from a pond in Araihazar, Narayanganj, on Monday morning.
The recovery took place around 8am in Singarpur area of Fatepur union, from a pond owned by Rezaul. The firearm was found when it became entangled in a fisherman’s net during fishing.
Police arrived at the scene after being notified, seized the weapon, and transported it back to the station.
SI Shafiul Islam, officer responsible for weapon maintenance at Araihazar Police Station, confirmed the matter. He said, the shotgun bearing butt number 651 was verified as belonging to Araihazar police.
According to the law enforcers, the weapon was among those looted during the July mass movement.
