Actor-singer Kushum Shikder has made a musical comeback after nearly a decade, while also stepping into the digital streaming space for the first time.
Her latest release, ‘Hera Hote Hele Dule’, is a naat-e-Rasul penned and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam. The track marks her first musical outing since ‘Nesha’, which was released in 2017.
Trained in Nazrul Sangeet and classical music at the Nazrul Academy, Kushum described returning with a Nazrul composition as especially meaningful, reiterating that she primarily identifies as a Nazrul Sangeet artiste.
The accompanying music video has drawn attention for its use of artificial intelligence technology. Produced under the Impress Telefilm banner, the project was developed from a concept by Faridur Reza Sagar and Shaikh Siraj. It premiered on Channel i before being rolled out across the network’s digital platforms.
Beyond music, Kushum has completed filming for ‘Paap Kahini 2’, directed by Shahriar Nazim Joy. The series, centred on themes of love, betrayal and revenge, marks her first appearance in an OTT production. Joy also helmed the original instalment, released last year.
Reflecting on her digital debut, Kushum said the shift in medium did not significantly alter her approach to performance, as her focus remained on doing justice to the character. She added that she values selectivity in her career choices, preferring varied roles over frequent appearances.
Paap Kahini 2 is expected to stream on iScreen during Eid-ul-Fitr, with dubbing currently underway.
