Kristen Stewart has said she would be eager to direct a future instalment or remake of the ‘Twilight’ franchise if the opportunity arises.
The Hollywood star, who played Bella Swan in all five films, spoke about the possibility while attending a recent industry event. Asked whether she would consider stepping behind the camera for the vampire saga, Stewart said the idea genuinely appeals to her.
She praised the original filmmakers, including Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz, saying each director brought a distinct and personal vision to the series. Reflecting on the early films, Stewart said they captured a raw creative energy before the franchise became a global phenomenon.
Imagining a new version with strong studio backing, Stewart said she would be happy to revisit the story as a director. “I would love to readapt it,” she said, adding that she would commit to a remake if given the chance.
Stewart’s comments come as she begins a new chapter in her career as a filmmaker. Her feature directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, released in 2025, has been described as a deeply personal project. Speaking about the transition, she said that after working in front of the camera since childhood, directing feels like a natural next step.
The Twilight films, adapted from novels by Stephenie Meyer, became a pop culture sensation worldwide. Alongside Stewart, the franchise starred Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner and was directed by several filmmakers across its five films.
