A convoy linked to Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was reportedly targeted in a shooting in British Columbia, Canada, late Saturday, hours after his concert.
Abbotsford Police confirmed a shooting in the 2500-block of McCallum Road but have not revealed who was targeted or confirmed whether Ammy Virk was inside the vehicle at the time.
The incident reportedly took place around 11pm when occupants of a dark-coloured SUV allegedly opened fire at another vehicle. No injuries were reported.
However, Ammy Virk’s family has denied that the shooting was directed at the singer. Kuljit Singh, sarpanch of Lohar Majra village in Nabha, also said the incident was reported on Sunday and confirmed that Ammy Virk was safe.
Shortly after the shooting, police received reports of an SUV catching fire in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place. Officers arrived at the scene and found the vehicle completely burned.
Investigators are now trying to determine whether the burnt SUV was connected to the shooting.
According to reports, Ammy Virk had just finished his show at Rogers Forum in Abbotsford when his vehicle was allegedly targeted. Around seven to 10 shots were reportedly fired at the car.
The bullets reportedly struck the vehicle’s rear window, but no one inside was injured.
Local sources said Ammy Virk performed at Rogers Forum Hall in Abbotsford on the night of 5 September.
After the show, he reportedly left the venue with a convoy of vehicles at around 11pm. People travelling in another vehicle allegedly opened fire on a Rolls-Royce in the convoy.
Police are investigating the incident and have yet to confirm whether Ammy Virk was the intended target.
