Hungarian novelist László Krasznahorkai has won the Nobel Prize in Literature.

The Royal Swedish Academy announced his name as the winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature on Thursday. About him, the Academy said, “For his mesmerizing and visionary artistry, which again manifests the power of art amidst the terror of the universe.”

This Nobel laureate in literature will receive a medal, a diploma, and a total of 11 million Swedish kronor. At the current market rate, its value is approximately $1.2 million, which is equivalent to about Tk14.61 crore.

Last year, South Korean writer and poet Han Kang received this honor.

Every year, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences announces the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry, while the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, announces the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

The names of the peace prize winners are expected to be announced on Friday.
