Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Rukmini “Koel” Mallick resigned from the Rajya Sabha on Thursday, becoming the fourth party MP to step down from the Upper House since the Mamata Banerjee-led party lost power in West Bengal.
According to The Hindu, Mallick met the Rajya Sabha Chairman and formally submitted her resignation.
In her resignation letter, she wrote: “I do hereby resign from the membership of Rajya Sabha, which may please be accepted with immediate effect.”
She also expressed gratitude to the House authorities for their support during her tenure.
“I convey my sincere gratitude to the Deputy Chairman and all functionaries of the Rajya Sabha Secretariat for extending all help and cooperation during my tenure as a member of Rajya Sabha,” she wrote.
According to The Hindu, TMC MPs Sukhendu Shekhar Ray, Susmita Dev and Prakash Chik Baraik had earlier resigned from the Rajya Sabha.
