Kim Kardashian was honoured at the DVF Awards in Venice recently, receiving recognition for her work in prison reform. However, prior to taking the stage, she did not hold back in criticising US President Donald Trump’s immigration policies, TMZ reported.
KiDuring the Trump administration, the US carried out major ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) operations, officially targeting criminal activity. Kim, however, claims that in practice, these measures disproportionately affected hardworking immigrants who have long contributed to the country’s growth.
Speaking to Variety, she said, “The headlines say it’s against criminals. But in reality, those who built our country, who are truly part of this country, are the ones being attacked. They are people I know, people my friends know.”
The 44-year-old reality star has been a prominent figure in criminal justice reform for several years. Notably, she lobbied at the White House for the release of rapper Chris Young, who was sentenced to life without parole at age 22 for a minor drug offence.
Thanks to her efforts, Trump commuted his sentence in 2021. Young, now 37, is pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Southern Methodist University.
At the DVF Awards, Kim reflected on the broader significance of her advocacy, “We are all born of a woman, we learn the struggle of life from women. Women should be respected. With the success she has, there was no need to fight for prisoners. Yet she has come forward.”

In May this year, she completed a four-year Law Office Study Program and, in July, sat the California bar exam, which included an essay, performance test and 200 multiple-choice questions. She is currently awaiting the results.
