Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, a member of the BNP’s Standing Committee, has collected a nomination form to contest from the Chattogram-10 constituency in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The nomination papers were collected on his behalf from the Chattogram Divisional Commissioner’s Office on Wednesday.
On the same day, former BNP Vice Chairman Gias Uddin Kader Chowdhury and BNP Central Organising Secretary Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin Chowdhury also collected their nomination forms.
In total, six candidates have collected nomination papers from the offices of the two Returning Officers in Chattogram. Among them are three from the BNP and three from Jamaat-e-Islami.
Separately, nomination papers were also collected on behalf of Israfil Khosru, son of Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, from the offices of the Returning Officer for Chattogram-11 and the Chattogram Regional Election Officer.
Assistant Commissioner Md Hedayet Ullah of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office said nomination papers were collected for: Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury from Chattogram-10 (Double Mooring) at the Divisional Commissioner’s and other relevant offices; Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin Chowdhury from Chattogram-5 (Hathazari and Ward No 1 & 2 of the city); and Md Anwar Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami from Chattogram-4 (Sitakunda and Ward Nos. 9 & 10 of the city).
From the Chattogram District Administrator’s Office and related offices, nomination papers were collected for: BNP candidate Gias Uddin Kader Chowdhury from Chattogram-6 (Raozan); Dr Md Shahadat Hossain of Jamaat-e-Islami from Chattogram-14 (Chandanaish upazila and part of Satkania); and Shahjahan Chowdhury from Chattogram-15 (Lohagara upazila and part of Satkania).
The process for prospective candidates to collect nomination forms for the 13th National Parliament Election began last Friday.
Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Ziauddin, District Administrator Mohammad Zahidul Islam Mia, and Regional Election Officer Belayet Hossain Chowdhury are serving as returning officers.
Additionally, Additional District Administrator (LA) Md Kamruzzaman, upazila nirbahi officers, and thana election officers are serving as assistant returning officers. Nomination papers can be collected and submitted at these offices.
