Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman arrived in Beijing on Tuesday on a three-day official visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding high-level engagement between Bangladesh and China.
Bangladesh Ambassador to China Md Nazmul Islam and Chinese Foreign Ministry Consul General Wei Huaxiang received the foreign minister at the airport.
The delegation accompanying Khalilur includes Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and Bangladesh Investment Development Authority Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun, among others.
During the visit, the foreign minister is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on May 6 at the Diaoyutai State Guest House in Beijing.
Wang Yi is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.
Khalilur is also expected to meet the chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and other senior Chinese leaders.
The meetings are expected to focus on trade, investment and regional cooperation alongside other issues of mutual interest.
