Actor Khairul Basar and cinematographer Mehedi Rony have been injured in a scooter accident while shooting a drama in Thailand.
Both are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Pattaya.
The accident occurred on Tuesday at around 4:30pm Bangladesh time after the pair finished shooting on a hill on Koh Larn island.
Rony was riding the scooter when it suddenly lost control while they were descending.
Basar said, “We came to Thailand to shoot a drama. Everything was going smoothly. We had a scene to shoot on Ko Lan, and at one point we went to the top of a hill. The shoot went well, but while coming down, the scooter suddenly lost control and we fell.”
The accident happened so quickly that neither of them initially realised what had happened.
Members of the shooting crew, who were nearby, rushed to their aid and helped them reach safety.
Basar sustained injuries to his chest and knee and is having difficulty walking. Rony suffered more serious injuries, with several parts of his body scraped and injured in the fall.
“We have just arrived at the hospital. Both of us need to undergo X-rays and then follow the doctors’ advice. The shooting has had to be cancelled for now. Given my physical condition, it is not possible for me to continue working,” Basar said.
The actor had travelled to Thailand to shoot several dramas following a break after Eid.
Although the titles of the productions have not been revealed, they are being directed by Mir Arman Hossain. Basar’s co-stars include Sadnima Binte Noman and others.
Basar said he was not scheduled to shoot on Wednesday but had work planned later.
He expects to need at least two to three days of rest before he can consider returning to the shoot.
