Filmmaker Karan Johar has confirmed that his popular celebrity talk show ‘Koffee With Karan’ will return for its ninth season this Diwali.
Speaking during a conversation with The Week, Johar revealed the timeline when asked about the show’s comeback. Smiling, he said simply, “Diwali. Season 9.”
The show last aired in 2024 and has remained one of Indian television’s most talked-about entertainment formats since its debut in 2004, with Johar hosting every season.
Season 8, which ran most recently, drew significant attention for its high-profile guest list and several viral moments. Guests included Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, whose appearance sparked widespread online debate, alongside names such as Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Kajol, Ajay Devgn, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Rani Mukerji, Sara Ali Khan, Ananya Panday, Neetu Kapoor, Zeenat Aman, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vicky Kaushal and Kiara Advani.
Over the years, Koffee With Karan has become known for its candid conversations and headline-grabbing revelations, producing several memorable and controversial moments in Bollywood pop culture.
The show has also faced criticism and debate, particularly around discussions of nepotism in the industry. A 2017 episode featuring Kangana Ranaut became one of its most widely discussed instalments after she made strong remarks about Johar and the film industry structure.
In a recent interview with ANI, however, Ranaut said she does not view Johar negatively, describing him as someone with a flamboyant personality and a strong sense of humour.
