Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad on Monday asserted that no member of Hindu community in Bangladesh should fall victim to persecution.
“I will resign from the ministry, if necessary, but I will not tolerate any minority persecution, regardless of what happens there (India),” the minister said.
He made these remarks while responding to questions from journalists at a programme organised by Bangladesh Secretariat Reporters Forum held at Secretariat.
The minister’s comments were prompted by queries regarding reports of Muslims facing persecution in West Bengal, India, following the appointment of the BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari as chief minister.
